The role of the Real Estate Sector as we enter a 'new normal'

entrepreneur landlords Net Zero Real Estate

The Real Estate sector has a unique role to play as we emerge from the worst economic and social shock in our collective experience. The sector has been under tremendous strain over the last 18 months, with government support focused on businesses who were most affected by the pandemic, with support for landlords sadly very limited. However, the strength and resilience shown by landlords has shone a spotlight on what can happen when the built environment works together with all stakeholders.

Looking forward as we enter a ‘new normal’, the spirit of entrepreneurship will be more important than ever to innovate and set new industry standards. Forward-thinking businesses across the investment market, PropTech and property services sectors have been at the forefront of modernising our industry, and their importance will become increasingly important as we transition to a net zero country.

With net zero targets being announced from businesses across the industry, if the built environment is to meet these challenging targets then entrepreneurs, channelling the spirit of innovation, will be vital to enabling this change. With so much government emphasis in the recently published net zero strategy on technology of tomorrow, it is the entrepreneurs of today that will be leading this charge.
